God’s Design, God’s Glory
From the opening chapters of Scripture to the final exhortations of the New Testament, the Word of God is unwavering in its testimony: marriage is ordained by God, and human life is sacred because it is created by Him. These truths are not cultural constructs or temporary moral ideals—they are eternal principles rooted in the very nature and character of God.
In an age where both marriage and human life are increasingly redefined, Scripture calls believers back to God’s original design.
Marriage: Instituted by God, Not Man
Marriage was not invented by society; it was established by God Himself.
“And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” — Genesis 2:18 (KJV)
God created marriage as a covenant relationship between one man and one woman, designed for companionship, unity, and mutual support.
“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” — Genesis 2:24 (KJV)
Marriage reflects order, commitment, and permanence. Jesus Himself reaffirmed this design, emphasizing that marriage is not merely contractual but sacred.
“What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” — Matthew 19:6 (KJV)
Scripture presents marriage as honorable, pure, and worthy of protection.
“Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.” — Hebrews 13:4 (KJV)
Marriage is not only foundational to society—it is a picture of God’s covenant faithfulness.
Marriage as a Reflection of Christ and the Church
The New Testament elevates marriage even further, portraying it as a living illustration of Christ’s love for His Church.
“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.” — Ephesians 5:25 (KJV)
Biblical marriage is sacrificial, loving, and rooted in mutual submission to God. It is designed to glorify Him and to serve as a testimony of His redemptive love.
The Sanctity of Life: Created by God, Known by God
The sanctity of human life flows directly from one truth: God is the Creator of life.
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” — Genesis 1:27 (KJV)
Every human being bears the image of God. Life is not accidental, expendable, or subject to human convenience—it is sacred.
Scripture affirms that God knows life before birth.
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee.”
— Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)
The psalmist declares God’s intimate involvement in the formation of life:
“For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.”
— Psalm 139:13 (KJV)
Because life belongs to God, He alone has authority over it.
“See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive.”
— Deuteronomy 32:39 (KJV)
Life Is to Be Protected
Scripture consistently affirms the value of human life and condemns the shedding of innocent blood.
“Thou shalt not kill.”
— Exodus 20:13 (KJV)
“Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.”
— Proverbs 31:8 (KJV)
God calls His people to defend the vulnerable, speak truth, and uphold righteousness—even when doing so runs against cultural trends.
Marriage and Life: God’s Unified Design
Marriage and the sanctity of life are inseparably linked in Scripture. Marriage provides the God-ordained context for family, discipleship, and the nurturing of future generations.
“Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.”
— Psalm 127:3 (KJV)
Together, marriage and life testify to God’s purpose, order, and blessing.
A Call to Faithfulness
As believers, we are called not merely to acknowledge these truths, but to live them, defend them, and teach them faithfully.
“Choose you this day whom ye will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
— Joshua 24:15 (KJV)
In a world that often rejects God’s design, the church must stand with conviction, compassion, and clarity—holding fast to what the Lord has spoken.
